Alanis gave a tired yawn as she leaned against the post of an abandoned stall. She had barely slept the night before and it had grown rather obvious. Not only was she yawning and nearly falling asleep as she rested in her place but her appearance showed it as well. It had been roughly a week since she had been having trouble sleeping and so dark circles had begun to appear underneath her dark green eyes. Not only that but her skin had managed to pale and receive a rather sickly hue to it. Woman around her age normally would fret over such a thing but she had grown used to her appearance not always being its best (or needing to be for that matter) and so she got over it quickly. There was no reason to even care for such matters in her mind anyway. She wasn't quite interested in the opinions of others currently anyway. Her life was too chaotic to even think on such matters.

She gave another sigh and straightened up from the beam. She was growing impatient but bit back as many complaints as possible. It wasn't her place to have such thoughts at the time. Her friend had said when he would be back and he was rarely ever late so she'd just have to wait a tad longer. She shouldn't think on the matter that it was already and hour past. A small amount of worry had formed in her at first at the extended wait but it soon gave way to thoughts of irritation instead. She had always hated waiting. It was just too tedious for her.

She gave an irritated sigh, ready to go out and search for her late friend. She tightened the straps of the pack slung over her shoulder and looked to the crowds walking along the busier part of the marketplace. She had been waiting in the old rundown area where stalls had been left to rot long ago. She wasn't entirely sure why this was so but didn't keep her thoughts on it. There was no point to. At least every major city had its lesser parts and this was connected to Seraree's capital.

Her gaze drifted from the rotted wood of the empty stalls to the brick buildings that towered not too far from the bustling market. Ornate statues lined the streets and decorated the buildings, portraying cherubs and other angelic creatures. Despite their cruel past Seraree had always had a way with masking itself in the beauty of the celestial beings. It was how they hid their unforgivable sins. But the clocktower that stood in the center of the city still seemed to hold a true heavenly beauty. She figured it was the blessing still in affect. There had been a rumor that the Angel of Time had once blessed the clock tower and connected it to his own powers. But that was just a rumor.

She sidestepped in to the crowds only for a hand to roughly grab her arm and pull her back in to the same area she had tried to leave. She gave a shout of protest but it ended as she gazed upon the man's face. A bruised pale face grinned back at her as he released her and held up a bag of fruit.

"Dante, what happened to you?" she asked quietly as she took in his features. His cheek was bruised and black eye was forming on the right side of his face. His dark hair looked as if it had been pulled at and he had a limp as he walked with her back to the abondoned stall. The hood of his cloak was slipping off of his skull as well and the string tying it tight around him was loosening. But her focus was mainly on the bruises around his neck.

"They wouldn't sell to me. A boy pulled my hood off so it angered them a bit. I took the fruit anyway." He replied to her between a few breaths. He smiled still and fished out a peach from the bag before offering it to her. "I got enough for snacks even."

Kyrylo rubbed at his forehead with the back of his hand. He only had arrived at the marvelous city half an hour ago at the most. He had been traveling for quite a long while, and he was at sea for the longest time. He had come from Arixis Port, and he was told that the safest way to go was to stay at sea longer and go straight northward towards Seraree instead of to Yggsdailn and being forced to perhaps take another ship from there to Seraree or travel through the perilous and infamous marshes. The darkly skinned elf frowned a little to himself, he almost regretted his decision, for h thought he would have preferred daring the marshes.

He walked on, following the crowds and looking around at the great buildings and some of the stalls and shops. What he needed most was to find a decent inn with a good tavern. He didn't care for the drink, but for what information one could gather there. It would be good as well to sleep in a nice bed instead of in one where you could sense the creaking moving of a ship all night, every night. Though not in desperate need of them, it would be good to look for some supplies, perhaps a blacksmith as well to touch up some of his weapons.

Kyrylo continued along, following the people to the bustling hive of the main market. He inched and politely made his way through, catching some glance people made to him; some were curious, others looked rather untrusting. Looking upwards to the sky, the elf saw some smoke billowing from a chimney and with some armed individuals around the building, some some going in and out. Perhaps that was a blacksmith? Kyrylo shrugged and springed on ahead, entering the dwelling. The place smelled of smoke and metal, and was quite warm, several people were around yet no one was waiting at the counter. Hesitantly he stepped up and gave a hearty knocking on the wood to signal for the blacksmith. When no one answered, Kyrylo tried knocking harder and gave a simple call of "hello?" Then, a large, gruff looking man stepped out, looking irritable and not at all in the mood for nonsense. Still, the elven knight wasn't put off and reached to unshoulder and unclasp some of his gear.

"I... I looking for blacksmith. He be you? Can check you up me weapons?" The bulky man's lips stretched out, and an eyebrow rose. It was easy to tell, besides from his appearance, that Kyrylo was a traveler. But from his accent that said he was from Tyree, and the fact that his speech was a bit poor, got a number of chuckles and low laughs from some of the other men, including the blacksmith himself.

"Sure kid. Heh, yeah. Twenty gold, and twelve silvers extra." Kyrylo blinked at the price. He wasn't that familiar with bartering, bargaining and deals on the market, but that just sounded... expensive for a touch up. And kid? Did he really look that young to the man? "But... that much for checking up. Should it no be more ten gold at most?" Kyrylo got out his small purse digging through it and frowning a bit before jumping from the blacksmith slamming a meaty on the counter, and looking most grim. "Twenty gold, twelve silvers kid. That's my price, and that's what everyone pays, isn't that right?" the last three words he looked to the other men who bellowed an affirmative, and the blacksmith looked back to the elf with a smirk. "See? The locals pay just the same. My work is fine and thorough, though I do it awful quick compared to some folk even over at Chandra. Pay up boy, or get the hell out."

Kyrylo's shoulders slumped and he gave a mellow sigh. He dug around in his purse, pulling out coin after coin after coin. Once paid, the blacksmith grinned and took Kyrylo's weapons while the elf stood to the side, listening to the tinkering and waiting for it to be finished. He wanted to just get out and find an inn. Eventually he was called up and he went to retrieve his gear. He looked it over, found it to be... alright; he's seen better craftsmanship. Still, Kyrylo didn't complain, but gave a small smile and his thanks before leaving. However, once out and walking again, he fumbled through his purse, and gave a small groan. He'd have to help with chores around the inn if he hoped to get a room; he doubted he could even afford a room at even the worst of quality inns here now. Kyrylo moved along, drifting off more to the edges of the market, away from the crowds to where it began to look reminiscent to that of a ghost town, with abandoned stalls with rotting poles and all sorts of waste littering the cobblestone streets.

Alanis was rather quiet at first as she took the bag of fruit. She hadn’t expected for Dante to be caught so quickly, let alone actually steal the needed food. He tossed her back the unopened coin purse so she could place it back in to her pack but her mind was still elsewhere to do so. Dante had never been one to steal before. Even if it was for the better he still refused to do so. So she couldn’t help but wonder what had set him off to suddenly break his high morals. Truly it wasn’t just because they had roughed him up a bit. No, they had both been through worth treatment and a losing fight wasn’t anything to be concerned over. Of course that didn’t mean she wasn’t angry for the actions, no, it angered her a great deal but she bit it all back as always. No matter how much she kicked and screamed she would not be listened to and everyone would merely continue on with their discrimatory ways.
“What all happened?” She asked again, this time wanting the full story and not just the choppy sentences he had given her. But she knew he wouldn’t do so. He never did. He was just as bad as she when it came to telling someone of past events. Her own reasoning was simply that she didn’t want to linger on the subjects and by talking of them she did so. And that bothered her greatly. It forced her to relive evnts that she so desperatly tried to push aside. And so she didn’t press on when she only received a quiet look as the hybrid bit into his peach.
“Can you at least tell me who it was?” She spoke up, fishing out an apple from the bag. She took a bite and noticed that Dante’s hood had fully fallen from his head and revealed a pair of black feline ears. But it didn’t shock her in the least. She already knew he had them, along with a small tail hidden undearneath the folds of his cloak. She just wondered why he wasn’t trying to hide them as quickly as he usualy did. She figured he just didn’t feel up to it for the time being.
“No, I can’t.” He finally said to her after finishing of his fruit. “Because I know very well that you will shoot them.” He mused a bit as he spoke and wiped at his hands. “I know you better then you think I do.” He grinned a bit and finally went about fixing his hood. “If something annoys you then you instantly try to put a stop to it, even if it isn’t by the most pratical methods.”
“Well, maybe they deserve such a thing.” She retorted instantly. She took off her pack and put away the coin purse she had been tossed earlier. She had almost forgotten to do so.

While it was rather barren in this part of the city, it wasn't completely lifeless. The occasional starved cat ran by, giving a yowl as it went past and Kyrylo even passed one of two people, shrouded in shawls and rags, shuffling along. The elf's lips quirked a little as he looked around to the building's all boarded up, and even stooping down to pick up some litter before frowning and just walking on carrying, seeing no place to throw it away.

The elf continued along, looking to some of the signs, sometimes having to pause to remember the appropriate character and lettering. He had a fine ear for the various languages, but he knew many, despite him being young for one of his kind, and occasionally he would get some mixed up; of course too he was only really fluent in his native tongue and with the common language around Kessir and some of Arixis Port, these others he still wouldn't quite grasp.

Still looking to the signs of the buildings, Kyrylo began whistling a tune he had learned as a very young child, one that was in fact popular with children of the Twilight Elves. He really did need to find an inn of sorts, but he didn't like the idea of one being here in this part of town. Maybe he should just turn around and set up camp outside the walls? It wouldn't be the first time he's had to do that, nor would it be the last. Still, that didn't mean he particularly enjoyed the idea of it.

Giving a soft sigh, interrupting his own whistling, Kyrylo paused and was about to turn around, but he stopped when he saw a couple, or at least two people, up ahead, walking on towards him; the elf could see too that one of them had the most interesting ears. All the knight could do now was stand staring ahead, and when the two came close enough, he saw that they were ears like that of a cat. A hybrid? He wondered, he had never seen a hybrid of any sort before, and it really made the elf curious. The couple, ignoring him, went past, but Kyrylo's head turned with them as they went, still looking to the ears, and soon was compelled to follow.

Alanis gave a sigh as she sealed her pack and slung it back over her shoulder. She was still terribly tired and wanted to return back to the inn but it would still be an hour or two before sundown. She'd just have to wait for now. She let out a yawn as they began to walk through the abandoned section of the city. She had been warned before not to linger through it but just the events Dante faced early proved that they were safer if they stuck with the emptier parts. They didn't draw as much attention by doing so.

As they walked she rummaged through the bag of food and pulled out a small loaf of bread. She split it and handed the other half to Dante with a smile. Whatever was in the bag would serve as their meal for the day and by the looks of what all was in the bag it would be able to subside any hunger pains over the night. She had learned long ago how to deal with such things but that still didn’t mean she was able to ignore them altogether.

Her gaze drifted over to a rather dark skinned elf as they passed. In return he gave them a peculiar look but she pushed it aside. She caught sight of why when she looked back to her friend. His hood had fallen again and he seemed to be having trouble with the strap that kept his hood tied tightly against his skull.

“Damn thing.” He mumbled bitterly before stuffing his share of the bread in to his mouth. She groaned as he began to choke after a moment of fiddling with the strap. It had been too big of a piece to chew fully and so he was having a hard time swallowing.

“You idiot.” She grumbled. She moved closer to help him but he shooed her away and coughed a bit more before being able to swallow what he had tried to eat. She crossed her arms but he only gave her a rather stupid looking grin in return. He pulled at the strap but this time the hood fell completely over his face and he started a new struggle of pulling it back over his eyes.

She sighed irritably and looked around her, spotting the same elf she had seen early. Curiously she watched him, had he followed them? She kept her arms crossed and ignored Dante's silly struggles before approaching the dark elf. "Are you following us?" She flat out stated, not caring if it was rude. "You were going the other way before."

Kyrylo wasn't really paying attention to the duo's actions and what they were talking about. Normally he is much more attentive than this, but the elf simply couldn't help himself. He has heard of hybrids of course, and of the sad lives they follow given how they are hated and discriminated against (which does make him wonder as well), but the fact of seeing one, right here and now of all places truly intrigued him. He observed that the cat-man was having trouble with his hood, and the woman had given an irritated sigh before suddenly turning around, catching him a little by surprise, and coming right at him and addressing him a little rudely.

"Ah? I... I sorry," he started, stiffened a little but didn't look afraid, merely just startled, "It rude of me to have do so, I sorry. I never see... ear like those before." Kyrylo looked back to the ears of the man, pointing to them a little before dropping his hand to down to his side. "I just arrive to city too, are you local? Or know any... decent inn perhaps?" The elf gave a little awkward smile, his shoulders slumping in relaxation as his surprise ebbed away and he became a little more comfortable again. He hoped that by being a bit kindly and apologetic they might be forgiving, and even provide some of the information he needed. Though admittedly too, he wanted to touch the feline ears something awful, and his eyes would keep flickering from the woman's to said ears.

((It is ok C: ))

Alanis kept her arms crossed as she stared at the elf. She hadn’t expected an apology so quickly; it had managed to take her off guard slightly. Usually she only received retorts or insults in reply of her actions that were more on the rude side then anything. She frowned a bit at first but it managed to twist in to a small smile. She rather liked the idea of someone other then a friend (even then they would usually be rude back to her) being polite to her. She was quiet for the moment, glancing behind her at her senseless friend as she listened to the dark skinned elf speak. His sentences were off and it annoyed her but she ignored it. She had used to talk that way and still did so every rare day. It had been difficult for her to learn the correct languages to speak in most of the countries and she was still off and broken with many.

“We aren’t from around here.” She spoke up, finally turning to look at him. Dante had given up on his hood and it stayed lopsided on his head as he walked lazily toward them. “There is an inn not far from here. It is not the best but its cheaper then most and they let us stay so I guess if it is what you are looking for. We were heading toward it if you would like to tag along; I’m not good with directions.”

She unfolded her arms and placed her hands drowsily on her hips. Dante blinked and looked curiously to the elf, finally realizing they were in the company of a stranger.

“Now, who are you?” He asked the elf, his voice curious as he spoke.

Watching the woman's expression turn from a frown to a small smile puzzled Kyrylo slightly. What could she have thought of to make her mood shift so suddenly? It'd be best not to pursue the wonder of it. He however frowned a little in turn when she mentioned that they weren't from around the area, but he did perk up a little upon the invitation for him to tag along. "That would be nice. Thank you." he gave a friendly smile before turning to look at the feline-eared man when he stepped forward, asking of the elf's identity.

"My name Kyrylo Airan," he said, bringing up a hand to cross over his chest while the finger tips rested at his shoulder while giving a small bow, "a traveler from southward. That remind me, have you hear of... girl? This tall," Kyrylo made a gesture that was just an inch shorter than himself, more or less, "pale skin, garnet eye, long fair hair. Elf, like me. You see such girl?" There was a moment when the dark-skinned elf looked happy and hopeful, but when both the figures had given a negative answer, he gave a simple 'oh', shoulders slumping and looking a bit disappointed.

Alanis only shrugged her shoulders at the elf’s giving of thanks. They were only taking him to a cheap local inn. It wasn’t much really. Didn’t even deserve a thanks now that she thought on it. She pushed the thoughts aside and focused back on what the elf was speaking of. She had caught his first name and was a bit confused at his bow. Dante smiled and gave one in return but he looked more amused by it then anything. It was really common for either of them to be bowed to, even if it was just out of simple respect and kindness. She could understand why he would enjoy such a moment even though she was clearly indifferent to it.

“Hello then, Kyrylo.” Dante spoke up, smiling happily. “I am Dante Saiko and this is Alanis.” He added, gesturing to his friend when he mentioned her name. She said nothing in return and merely crossed her arms again. What was there to say that hadn’t already been said? However she did bother to say a no in response to the elf’s descriptions. She really hadn’t seen such a person.

“Actually, I might have seen her before.” Dante said after a moment of thought. “But it was all the way back in Sakreh. I only saw a glimpse of her but the story had been that she had been found abandoned outside of Sakreh. The royal family had taken her in for the time being. Is she a relative of yours? I think I may still have the letter about her from a friend that works in the palace. I could give it to you if you like. I don’t need it anymore.”

He smiled again and looked back to Alanis who only shrugged her shoulders again. She truly didn’t know who he spoke of and so kept quiet on the subject.

“Well, let’s go to the inn then, shall we?” He mused, grinning to them both.

Kyrylo gave a grin in turn when the cat-man, named Dante, introduced himself and the woman, Alanis. The elf found the names interesting and rather nice sounding, more especially the woman's. He still stared over at Dante's ears, really getting the urge to touch them, but the moment he had given the mention of seeing D'lanna, Kyrylo jumped, looking rather excited, maybe even panicked. "You see her?!!" he exclaimed, full attention to Dante. He quivered a moment, half-stepping to him and holding up his hands, clenching the fingers in and out, almost like he was begging for something. "I-in Sakreh?" The elf paused a moment, stepping back and looking off away from the two figures. This had been the most helpful information he's received in many months, even a few years even. Whenever he asked of the Princess to anyone, they either said no, or something like "well, maybe," and making it worse that they would want to be paid for the information. The first few times he came across such individuals he gave some coin, but came to regret it, and when he encountered such people again later, didn't bother.

"Outside Sakreh... I be going wrong way!" Kyrylo was about to make a run for, to dash out of the city and be back n the road. His tiredness and wanting a real bed be damned, he couldn't let such vital information slip by. He paused though, reining in himself enough to have caught Dante mentioning a letter. The elven knight whirled back to Dante, stepping to him again. "Letter? Please! Please! Let me see!" He pleaded and held his hands out, now looking even more desperate, having not even caught the question of D'lanna being a relative of his. He did hear however for them to go to the inn. Kyrylo pursed his lips and shook his head a little. "No... I can not. I... I need find her!" The elf shifted on his feet, clearly wanting to get going, but wasn't going until given the letter.

Both Dante and Alanis was caught off guard by the elf’s sudden change in attitude. It hadn’t been wholly expected none the less. It was almost a bit shocking for the two. Dante took a step back when Kyrylo held his hands out, expecting the letter. “I don’t have it on me, that is why I suggested going to the inn. It is with my things back there.” He explained rather hastily. He never liked it when someone was able to change moods so quickly and it was rather obvious while Alanis found it all amusing with a smirk planted on her face. He hesitated greatly before beckoning the elf to follow him.

Alanis kept her arms crossed as she shrugged her shoulders and started to walk again along the abandoned street. She didn’t quite care if the other two tagged along or not. She just wanted to get back to the inn and lay down, she was terribly tired after all. She actually planned to go to bed early, despite the fact she hated falling asleep before the sun was down. It was just a quirk of hers. She glanced to the stalls every now and then as she walked but didn’t do much else. It only took her a small amount of time to reach the two story shack that served as the cheap and local inn.

She received a few stares as she went in and instantly went up to the room she shared with her friend.

Kyrylo slumped a bit but gave a slow nod. The elf was looking down towards his feet, seeming a bit ashamed at his sudden outburst, and when the two had started walking again, he followed behind them. In no time at all they arrived at the inn, and it did resemble a shamble shack than a proper inn. The people sitting around tables looked gruff and hardy, those who wouldn't take any nonsense disturbing their territory; he noticed too that there weren't really any other elves amongst them, much less people with skin much darker than an amber tan.

Slowly sitting down at an empty table, for he thought it might have been rude to follow Dante and Alanis up to their room, he held his hands up on the wooden table, twiddling his thumbs. He wondered at the relationship of the two. Friends? Lovers? A wedded couple? It seemed that the two were simply friends, as he thought about it more, for they didn't interact with on another like they were in love. Kyrylo looked up when he heard the squeaking of chairs being pulled across the floor and a few men sat down at his table, staring and tapping their fingers on the table.

"Look what we've got fellas, ever seen an elf with skin the color mud?" one said, reaching around to poke the knight in the arm, and they all gave a low chuckle. "Heh, and look at that hair, can't be natural, or maybe he's an old geezer."
"Can't really tell with these knife-ears. So what are ya elf? Two hundred thousand?" Their laughter escalated, but poor Kyrylo just looked confused and shook his head slightly. The laughing stopped, and one gave a loud snort and spoke again. "No? We're wrong? You're correcting us?" There was a pause, and Kyrylo didn't say anything, or give any kind of gesture besides staring back with wide, yellow eyes and eventually blinked. The man who had spoken scooted his chair closer, of which Kyrylo had moved back a bit and was now looking rather uncomfortable.

"No one corrects us, not here when this is OUR turf. Now, why don't you run along, go prancing with your little friends in some forest, eh?" The man said, and everyone gave grunts and nods of agreement. Here Kyrylo really didn't looked especially pleased with the men's comments. He wasn't sad, looked a bit more blank. Truthfully, he was getting a bit fed up with how he was being treated, and he hadn't even been in the city for a scarce two hours yet.

"I am no going anywhere. Not until I get what I need."

Alanis stayed upstairs as Dante descended the stairway, letter in hand. He had remembered where he placed the letter and so it hadn’t taken him but a small moment to fish it out. It was getting downstairs without too many onlookers that took the longest. He always seemed to cause trouble when Alanis wasn’t with him and he had been wounded enough earlier today. He didn’t look forward to another beating. A frown crossed his face as he spotted Kyrylo with a small group of men. It seemed today would be a rough day. Before he could reach them a brown-haired woman approached them. She was tall and had a toned build with a scar tucked underneath her chin. Her green eyes stared musingly at the men and she fiddled with hook that connected the case of a sword to her built. She looked a few years younger then Alanis but clearly still had the familiar appearance about her. It only took him a moment to recognize her as his friend’s younger sister. He hadn’t thought she was in the area. He shrugged the thought aside before finally heading over to the table.

“Now, now. There isn’t any trouble going on in my little friend’s inn, now is there?” She said, addressing the men more then the elf. She had a grin twisted on to her face as she spoke but her tone was still serious. “Ryok,” Her gaze fixated on one of the men. “Last time I checked, you were a bloody idiot that even a rock had the right of correcting. I would suggest letting the elf be. He doesn’t quite look the part of a weakling and I am sure as hell that he could kick your ass.”

Her tone harshened as she spoke to them but as her gaze landed on Dante, her smile grew. “Dante? I thought you guys would be another week before you all passed through here!” She said, her tone suddenly friendly and kind. A look of excitement had crossed her features and she seemed to have forgotten the group altogether.

“We had to take a different route, ran in to some trouble.” He explained before turning to Kyrylo. “Here you are.” He offered the elf the letter, still rather nervous of the men around them.

Kyrylo was surprised when a young woman approached the table, having a rather striking resemblance to Alanis. A relative perhaps? She spoke to the the men, and when she said one of the name's, the supposed leader stiffened up, looking like a deer in the headlights. She told the men to back off from the elf, of which he was grateful for, and when the woman turned away, the men were up and shuffling away from the table. Kyrylo turned and saw Dante had come back downstairs, and there was a small exchange of words before the letter was handed over to the knight. Kyrylo gave a nod and a soft thanks, looking down at the rolled slip of paper, he waited a moment on reading it, and instead stood up and faced the woman.

"Uh... thank you... helping for me," he said a little awkwardly, turning back and forth and seeming more like a shy young boy than anything. "I be Kyrylo... Airan. May me ask you name?" He gave a slight tilt of his head while still looking to her, continuing to hold the letter in his hands. He still had anticipation on reading the letter, for it was the first clue to the Princess's whereabouts he's acquired ever since he was first banished and started the search for her. The elf was still a bit amazed, and even a little doubtful. Sakreh? Kyrylo knows where the desert country is, for both having a map and having studied one while in training as a knight, it was simply unbelievable why anyone there could want anything to do with the quiet people of the Twilight Elves.

((Quuuuestion! What does the letter say? XD I hope I don't have to make it all up. D: ))
